Chrome Steel Planer Knives are offered at a lower price than HSS and M+. Intended for working with soft woods and less likely to chip if used on dirty wood.
High Speed Steel (HSS) are the best choice for general woodworking. They give your product an exceptional finish.
M+ (M42) Planer Knives are an HSS knife with a unique blend of alloying metals and a custom cutting angle to the blade that makes the knives more durable. Suitable for smaller runs of hardwoods like maple or oak.
Carbide planer knives are the perfect match for daily and extended use with all hardwoods, exotic woods and material with glue lines. Although the carbide steel is more brittle than high speed steel, if used on clean wood, it may last 8-10 times as long.
